Montana Medicare Plans

Montana has numerous combinations of coverage to meet your Medicare needs. While Original Medicare can leave you with thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs, our licensed agents have the perfect combinations of Supplements and additional plan options to help cover those costs and cap your out-of-pocket spending.

Montana Medicare plans open enrollment

In Montana you are able to enroll in Medicare at 65. Your open enrollment period begins 3 months prior to your birthday and continues for the 3 months following your birthday. At this time it is also best to enroll in a Medicare Supplement as you cannot be denied coverage based on your existing health conditions.

While you may enroll in a Supplement at any time throughout the year, you will have to complete and health survey and can be denied coverage based on your current health.

Medigap Plans

The Medicare plans in Montana are best when combined with a Supplement. Original Medicare leaves behind coinsurance and deductible costs. You may have additional costs as Original Medicare only covers about 80% of outpatient costs.

A Supplement can put a cap on out-of-pocket spending. Another benefit is you can see any doctor that accepts Medicare.

There are ten standardized plans lettered A-N. Similarly, lettered plans offer similar cover, the only difference being the cost. It is so important to compare and shop the best plan for your healthcare needs and your budget. We offer a service to assist you with this process that free!

If you were enrolled in Medigap plans C or F before  2019, you could remain enrolled in those plans; however, new beneficiaries cannot enroll in those two plans.

Medicare Advantage Plans

There are 9 Advantage plans in Montana depending on which county you live in. These are private plans that have the same coverage and benefits as Original Medicare but they also offer additional benefits. These benefits are dental, vision and prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Part D

There are 28 Part D plans in Montana. These plans provide prescription drug coverage. As Original Medicare and Supplements do not provide any coverage at the pharmacy, many beneficiaries choose to enroll in an Advantage plan or a Part D plan to assist with the out-of-pocket costs on prescriptions.
