Delaware Medicare Plans

Delaware residents have a few options to cover any gaps in their Medicare coverage. 

What you choose can depend on your budget and your healthcare needs. 

Delaware Medicare plans open enrollment

In Delaware, you are eligible for Medicare at 65, The enrollment period begins 3 months prior to your birthday and continues for 3 months following your birthday. At this time it is best to apply for Medicare Supplements. If you choose to enroll during this open enrollment period you cannot be declined for pre-existing health conditions. 

Medigap Plans

Coinsurance and deductible costs can be left behind by your original Medicare coverage. A Medicare Supplement can help cover these extra costs. In some cases only 80% of your outpatient costs will be covered, Supplements could save you in the long run. 

You have 10 plans to choose from. All plans are lettered A-N. The coverage is the same for each similarly each lettered plan. The only difference could be the price. It is important to consider all your options prior to choosing a plan. 

If you were enrolled in a Medigap plan C or F prior to 2019, you will be able to remain enrolled in that plan. New Medicare beneficiaries will not be able to choose those plans. 

Medicare Advantage Plans

There are 17 Advantage plans in Delaware. Advantage Plans, Part C plans, can provide extra coverage. Advantage plans are private plans that can also cover dental, vision and prescription costs along with all the Original Medicare benefits. 

Medicare Part D

Part D plans can help cover the costs of prescriptions drugs. In Delaware, there are 25 different options for plans. Enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan or Part D plan will help save out-of-pocket prescription expenses.
