Colorado Medicare Plans

Colorado Medicare plans may not cover all your medical costs. This is why Medicare Supplements, Medigap, and Advantage Plans may be a good fit.

Colorado Medicare Plans open enrollment

Colorado residents are eligible for Medicare at 65. The Enrollment period will start 3 months prior to your birthday and will continue for 3 months following your birthday.

During this initial enrollment you can apply for Medicare Supplements. You are able to enrollment in a Supplement at any time throughout the year; however, you must complete a health survey and could be declined based on your pre-existing health conditions. This is why enrolling during your specific enrollment period is advised.

Medigap Plans

Colorado Supplements can any costs from your deductible and coinsurance that your Original Medicare plan did not cover.

The 10 plans offer standard coverage and are lettered A-N. The matching lettered plans all provide the same coverage; however, the price could change.

This is why you should carefully compare all the plan options. Working with a licensed Medicare Agent can help you through this process at not cost to you.

If you were enrolled in Medigap Plans F or C prior to 2019 you will be able to remain enrolled in those plans; although, new applicants will not be able to choose these plans.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Advantage Plans (Part C plans) are private Medicare plans that also offer additional benefits. These benefits could include dental, vision, and prescription coverage.

63 counties in California offer these Advantage plans. Some counties only offer a small number of plans, so it’s best to work with an Agent to help determine the best choice.

Medicare Part D

Even though you can’t get prescription drug coverage with a Medicare supplement, you are able to get drug coverage through Medicare Part D.

In 2020 there are  26 Part D plans in Colorado. A Medicare Advantage plan or Part D plan will help pay for out-of-pocket prescription costs.
